join a group tour!

EscapingNY group tours are not your typical group tour. They are fast-paced, action packed trips, geared at curious travelers that enjoy non-traditional, off-the-beaten-path, local travel experiences. They are perfect for travelers who avoid run-of-the-mill big bus tours and who like to see and do a bit of everything. Essentially, they’re group tours for people who don’t do group tours.

Our small group tours will connect you with the world through unforgettable people and life-changing experiences that go beyond the guidebook.

Mexico: Day of the Dead, November, 2019

Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday dating back several thousand years to Aztec times in which families remember and honor those who have passed away. Far from a day of mourning, Day of the Dead is a festive holiday celebrating the lives of deceased loved ones. This eventful trip is jam packed with Day of the Dead activities, along with bike rides through diverse and interesting neighborhoods; taco tours; visits to food, flower, and witchcraft markets; trips to pre-Aztec runis and the world’s third largest pyramid; and much more.

Testimonials

I have joined three EscapingNY group trips to Mexico, Cuba, and Jordan, which offered in-depth, authentic experiences. I’d highly recommend EscapingNY to anyone interested in really getting to know a country.
— Wei C., New York City
This (Jordan trip) is the best trip I’ve ever been on and I’ve traveled pretty extensively. The trip was well-organized, the guides were incredible, I made new friends, and I’m already planning to join next year’s trip!
— Danielle T., Oakland, CA
I joined one of EscapingNY’s 10-day group tours (to Cuba) and had an absolutely amazing time and I can’t say enough good things about the trip. I so much enjoyed meeting a variety of Cubans from different walks of life to learn about their daily life and culture.
— Susan V, Los Angeles, CA
I joined a 10-day trip (to Cuba) and had an excellent time. We went on a flamingo-watching boat ride in a nature preserve, jumped off waterfalls in the jungle, cycled through Old Havana, visited several beautiful beaches, and went salsa dancing in a hot nightclub built inside a cave. I had limited expectations of Cuba because I don’t speak Spanish and I’d never traveled to a “non-westernized” country. My expectations were absolutely exceeded.
— Amy M., New York City
It was the trip of a lifetime (Mexico) with amazing food, people and places. The perfect tour for people who hate tours and want to have an authentic experience.
— Chris T., Florida
This trip was my first trip (Mexico) as a solo traveler and yet I wasn’t actually alone. The group was so much fun and I met some wonderful people that I hope to keep in touch with! It really was one of the best trips I’ve ever taken!
